In Moscow, festival program «Easter Gift» relating to the great Easter holiday, begins and combines entertainment, education and charity.
On the eve of the holiday the founder and art director of the theatrical production company Bright People Maria Galperina tells us about cultural program of the festival.
Maria, how will the Easter Festival look like in Moscow this year? How is it different from previous years?
This year the residents and guests of Moscow will see a very rich program. We combined culinary classes and street performances, focusing on Russian folk motifs. For the first time, within the program of the city holiday, people will have the opportunity not only to have fun and feel Russian culture, but also to take part in charitable actions of various funds.
Buying cakes, candies or souvenirs at fairs, everyone will help one or another charitable organisation. In my opinion, good deeds in such a bright holiday are especially important and make an excellent combination for the festival.
What part does your company do for the 9-day program?
For this Easter festival, we prepared a number of theatrical performances on the main streets and squares of Moscow - Manezhnaya Square, Revolution Square and Kamergerskiy Lane.
Every day from 7 to 15 April, we will show performances based on Russian fairy tales and works of literary classics from residents of the capital's theaters. Come see what interpretations of classical works the festival participants offer and how their perception in the urban environment is changing.
Maria, can you tell us more about your theatre program and schedule?
Our repertoire consists of 7 performances with a classic story based on Russian folk tales. There will be presented works by authors of different genres and epochs: "Mistress of Copper Mountain" by P. Bazhov, "Humpbacked Horse" by P. Ershov, "Scarlet Flower" by S. Aksakov, "Goldfish" by A. Pushkin, "Crow and Fox" by I. Krylov.
Each performance will include both the stage action and the interactive part. Again, plays are created as visual as possible, so that foreigners can be interested and involved no less than the residents of the city. There will be a lot of songs, dances and interactive games, that actors have prepared specially for children.
You will see the tradition of Easter celebrating. Moreover, despite the religiousness of the event, we will concentrate on the entertainment atmosphere – Easter cakes and eggs painting, curd cakes making etc.
On the weekend (April 7,8,14 and 15) the festival will start with culinary master-classes, after which our theater program will take place from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
On weekdays (April 9,10,11,12 and 13) the culinary part will begin at 3:00 pm, and our performances - from 4:00 pm.
Every person, coming to the festival, can easily spend a whole day without getting bored as well as enjoy food and entertainment.
