On January 13 and 14, Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov held several meetings with the leaders of influential Syrian opposition groups, including Saleh Muslim, the leader of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party; Haytham Manna, the co-president of the Syrian Democratic Council; and Samir Aita, the leader of the Syrian Democratic platform.

They discussed the organising of the intra-Syrian talks that have been scheduled for January 25 in Geneva, the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation reports.

It is said that the parties focused on strict compliance with the provisions of the Vienna documents and UN Security Council Resolution 2254 regarding the formation of an inclusive delegation of Syrian opposition forces. They pointed out that the intra-Syrian talks must be attended by delegates from the large opposition forces that are interested in finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis, so that the interests of all segments of Syrian society are represented at these talks.
