According to presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin has read US President Barack Obama’s interview in which he mentions Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In the interview US President says Putin is "scrupulously polite, very frank" and "not completely stupid," stating that their talks have always been "very businesslike."
The Moscow Times informs despite the Kremlin's official rhetoric, Obama said Putin “understands that Russia’s overall position in the world is significantly diminished. And the fact that he invades Crimea or is trying to prop up [Syrian President Bashar] Assad doesn’t suddenly make him a player. You don’t see [Putin] in any of these meetings out here helping to shape the agenda. For that matter, there’s not a G20 meeting where the Russians set the agenda around any of the issues that are important,” Obama told The Atlantic reporters.
Moreover, Barack Obama called Ukraine a "kleptocracy", adding that Russia was much more powerful when Ukraine looked like an independent country.
The Kremlin spokesman refused to report on the Russian leader’s reaction to Obama's remarks, Sputnik reports.
