Alexander Yakovenko, the Russian ambassador to the UK, managed to cut to the quick two political forces – Turkey and Tories – and express “support” for Labour leader – all in a single 140-character message published in Twitter on the 3rd of December. Checkmate.

TASS reports that the twit was triggered by Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn yesterday saying at the session of the House of Commons that it is necessary to find out which countries are buying oil from IS. Corbyn asked the question during Parliament’s marathon 10-hour debate on Wednesday night over whether to extend British airstrikes against IS from Iraq into Syria, the Russia Today reminds.

As a response, Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom posted a twit in which he promised to provide Mr. Corbyn with all known information. In a single Tweet sent directly to Jeremy Corbyn, but also made public with a well placed full stop, Yakovenko said:

“@JEREMYCORBYN SENDING YOU BY COURIER RUSSIAN DATA YOU REQUESTED YESTERDAY IN PARLIAMENT ON WHO BENEFITS FROM ISIL OIL TRADE”

Hence, Yakovenko’s single shot embodied in Twitter post hit three aims at once, which The Independent has described the following way:

First, expressed his support to the Labour Party leader after he granted his MPs a free vote on air strikes on Isis in Syria, despite his stated opposition.

Second, expressing support to Jeremy Corbyn automatically turns into a dig at the Tory government, for which Russia does not show much endorsement.

And the third is that he got in another slur at Turkey following the downing of a Russian jet on the Turkey-Syria border with allegations the Turkish president is involved in buying oil from the terror group.

The message was Retweeted by Russian Embassy, marking the latest in a string of incidents in which the official account for Russian's UK Embassy has trolled the UK government. The Twitter-savvy ambassador also tweeted a take down of Britain’s strategy in Syria asking why strikes are limited for Isil while there are many other terrorists’ groups such as Al-Nusra.
