We cordially invite you to attend the Russian Winter Ball will be held at the Grand Connaught Rooms in the heart of Covent Garden on Sunday 17th Jan 2016.
This grand event revives the tradition of the famous Russian balls of 19th century and coincides with the airing of the new television adaptation of Leo Tolstoy classic War and Peace by BBC One. So live your dream and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the days gone by. The ball is dedicated to celebration of the Russian Old New Year and intended for people who love classical and traditional Russian music, enjoy good company and dancing.
Among the guests will be well known personalities from the world of music, film and fashion. The evenings programme will start with a drinks reception followed by a gala dinner with entertainment from duo Mazaika (Sarah Harrison - violin, Igor Outkine - vocal, accordion), soprano Maria Kesselman, ballroom and Cossack dancers plus a surprise guest.
After the opening ceremony Viennese Fever Orchestra will be playing much loved waltzes and polkas and Mazaika Dance Band will perform foxtrot, quickstep and rumba as well as popular Russian songs and gypsy music.
There’ll be a charity auction in support of Rusfond UK who’s primary objective is to help seriously ill children from Russia access life-saving medical care in the UK.
The Russian Winter Ball is founded and organised by well known London based musician Igor Outkine who sung on screen famous Russian song Dark Eyes in the David Cronenberg film Eastern Promisses (2007).
