AFP reports that after a day of relative calm, the ruble resumed its downward spiral as oil prices struck fresh 12-year lows, breaking through the previous record low of 80.1 rubles to the dollar it hit on December 16, 2014.
The euro also gained on the Russian currency, trading at over 88 rubles.
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation has set from 21.01.2016 the following exchange rates of foreign currencies against the ruble: US Dollar - 79.4614, Euro - 87.0341, British Pound Sterling - 112.5015.
