Moreover, the explosion, via Turkish military general staff official, targeted a bus carrying military personnel. A car with explosives was reported to have detonated as military buses passed close to parliament, government buildings and Turkey’s military headquarters.
According to The Guardian, Mehmet Kiliçer, the Ankara governor, said officials believed the explosion was aimed at a convoy of military vehicles as it passed close to parliament, government buildings and Turkey’s military headquarters. An official at the armed forces’ general staff confirmed a bus carrying military personnel had been the target.
RT informs social media users in Ankara say they heard a loud noise all across the city, and posted photos of a huge plume of smoke rising over downtown Eskisehir Avenue.
Earlier, several explosions in the Turkish capital killed more than 100 people and injured dozens more. The explosions are considered to be the result of suicide bomb attacks.
