Turkish national Alparslan Celik, who earlier confessed to killed the pilot parachuting from the Russian Su-24 aircraft downed over Syria, was detained in Turkey on suspicion of fraud, local media reported Friday.
According to TASS, Celik is going to face trial on this charge rather than over suspicion of complicity to the Russian pilot’s death. Celik’s prosecutors have studied his dossier and learnt that he had been sentenced to 2.5 year in prison in the past but have not served his prison sentence for an unknown reason, the news agency went on to say.
Turkish media also reported Alparslan Celik, former leader of the Turkish Gray Wolves radical nationalist group, had been detained earlier in the week.
Moreover, The Moscow Times informs last November Celik said in a video interview that his group had killed one of the pilots of a Russian Su-24 bomber downed by Turkish aircraft.
