Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in Moscow on Thursday
The Moscow Times informs, following negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Twitter that talks had been “productive.”
Kerry wrote: “Spoke at length today with FM Lavrov about Syria and Ukraine. Productive dialogue with important partner.”
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister said that he would discuss Russia-US cooperation on international issues during his meeting with John Kerry.
According to Sputnik, Lavrov said on Thursday: "As we agreed, we will pay the most attention today to cooperation on the international arena, especially on Syrian settlement, but we will also discuss other problems, such as the situation in the Middle East and North Africa. We will exchange views on how the international community may contribute to settling the Ukrainian crisis".
Moreover, the issue of former Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko sentenced to 22 years in jail was brought up at talks.
Meanwhile, Kerry wished Lavrov a happy birthday, and jokingly called on him to respect his elders.
