Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied on Thursday any corruption charges contained in the recent Panama Papera scandal.
According to TASS news agency, Vladimir Putin says his friend Sergey Roldugin is a minority shareholder in a company, and he has spent all the money he has earned on musical instruments.
"I am proud to have such a man among my friends. And I am proud of him in general," Putin told the 3rd media forum of regional and local mass media Truth and Justice.
The Guardian informs, speaking at a media forum in his home city St Petersburg, Putin noted that his own name did not figure in the 11.5m files cited earlier this week, and said journalists had sought instead to pin allegations on his “friends and acquaintances”.
Moreover, Putin claims the scandal is manufactured to “sow division from the inside” of Russia and “turn the authorities against the state”, Newsweek informs.
